Healing from Trauma the Gentle Way

After Sophia was raped at the age of 14, she continued to relive that horrific event every waking hour. It even haunted her in her dreams. She reached out for help, but nothing seemed to stop the relentless day- and nightmares.
Reaching the end of her rope, she decided to make one more attempt at finding peace of mind. That is when Sophia called me, and booked a Thought Field Therapy consultation.
She had heard about Thought Field Therapy through a friend who used the “tapping thing” whenever she felt stressed and anxious. When I asked Sophia to think about the issue and to rate it on a scale from 0-10 (10 being the most upset, 0 no upset at all), her tears started to flow – I took that to be a 10! Then we started with the actual treatment.
There are many benefits from using Thought Field Therapy in the treatment of trauma. For example:
- TFT is not a talking cure. The client needs to reveal only a minimal amount of information for a treatment to be successful. Consequently, the chances of the client getting re-traumatized are very small.
- Results can be experienced rapidly. Often a successful treatment takes only a few minutes. There is very little correlation between the amount of treatment that is needed and the magnitude of the problem. Often decades old traumas can be eliminated in just one session.
- No touch is involved. Clients tap on their own body using just their fingers.
- You do not have to believe in this therapy for it to work for you. In fact, is so robust, it even works for animals.
- TFT is safe, fun, easy, elegant and effective. TFT is non-invasive, has no drug interactions and no negative side effects.
Thought Field Therapy enters healing data into your system through the body’s acupressure points. Similar to a computer’s keyboard on which we tap specific letters in order to write a coherent sentence, so also in TFT do we tap on certain meridian points in a particular sequence. Tapping, while the client thinks about a particular upset, achieves in more than 95% of the cases, a complete elimination of the upset and by extension, the client is free from emotional pain.
Sophia’s particular thought field, or memory, was the rape that happened more than a decade earlier for which no one was ever charged. We started tapping while Sophia was crying silently into her handkerchief. Already after one short round of tapping the TFT trauma points (or TFT trauma algorithm), Sophia started to look up and the tears were gone. She was down to a 6 from a 10. After another round of tapping, only a few minutes later, Sophia was completely calm. Her breathing was deep and regular, her back straight, her eyes large, peaceful and maybe even a bit dreamy. She reported to be a “0” – she felt no upset or pain anymore thinking about the trauma. No matter from what angle we looked at the issue, she was at peace about what had happened to her. The horrible tapes in her head had stopped, the terror, shame, guilt and anger had disappeared.
No, she had not forgotten. The memory was still clear in her mind, but the emotional charge that used to go with this thought field, was completely gone. Remembering the trauma was no more upsetting or disturbing to her than remembering what she had for breakfast that day.
According to most theories about how the brain encodes trauma, this kind of response is not supposed to be possible. Yet, with TFT, rapid and complete recoveries are not only normal, but expected.
Well over 500,000 people around the world have been helped by this simple and effective treatment. TFT is great for professionals and lay people alike because it works like clockwork: predictably and reliably. It can be used wherever and whenever it is needed, under virtually any circumstances. Anyone can learn how to use these simple and safe techniques.
The following are just a few of the examples from around the globe where Thought Field Therapy was used to successfully help entire populations who were suffering from trauma:
- TFT is now the technique used in the National Trauma Program in Kosova:
“We referred our most difficult trauma patients to the Professor. The success from TFT was 100% for every patient and they are still smiling until this day…
Kosova loves Thought Field Therapy. As Chief of Staff of the Medical Battalion of the K. P.C., I have full authority over all medical decisions in Kosova. I am revising this completely and starting a new national program. The emphasis of the national program will be Thought Field Therapy.” (For full text click here.)

- The TFT Trauma Relief Team was invited to Kigali, Rwanda, to treat and educate over 450 children who were orphaned due to the1994 genocide and AIDS. The one year study showed that these children experienced a 96% reduction in post traumatic stress after being introduced to Thought Field Therapy.
- A team of TFT practitioners was deployed three times, in conjunction with the American Green Cross, to post-Katrina New Orleans. On their most recent deployment they trained over 163 crisis workers in Thought Field Therapy and treated an additional 173 individuals for their trauma – with overwhelming success and an invitation to come back again.
All of us experience traumatic events during our lifetime. Some traumas we can shake off quite easily. Others stay stuck and we get stuck with them. Some traumas we are fully aware of. Others are buried in our subconscious mind, making themselves known to us only through unexplainable behaviours and fears.
If you had problems with personal relationships or your work, if you have experienced anxiety, sleeplessness, addictions, loneliness, body tension, depression or other painful symptoms, it is likely that you, like Sophia, are struggling with trauma energy that has become stuck. Moving forward with your life only becomes possible when this life-draining energy has been successfully released.
Sophia decided to end our session after the 10 minute trauma treatment. Honouring her choice, we said our good-byes, but not before asking her to please come back the following week, just for a quick follow-up appointment. When I saw the 24-year old seven days later, her expression was matter-of fact, maybe even somewhat clueless. I asked her how her week went, and if she had had any more flashbacks. She said, “No, not at all.” Again, I encouraged her to think about her trauma, to make sure we got all associated aspects of her issue. When she did so, she remained calm and kept reporting that she had no upset whatsoever. “I don’t really know why I’m here today,” she said. “I’m truly fine now. I have had no more flashbacks since our session. Moreover, I no longer see myself as a helpless victim. I decided to speak up. I am pressing charges.”
With the right tool, healing from trauma IS possible. Thought Field Therapy can be indispensable when an individual is ready to begin his or her life-restoring healing journey. With TFT, it is possible to heal from trauma the gentle way, to reclaim wholeness, and to move forward into a life worth living.
